History of Wellton Way

Back in 1996 several of the current employees of Wellton Way AB began to think in terms of convergence. Through other companies, for example, the first convergence computer was launched; it was a hybrid between analogue and digital technology, but even at the time of the launch in 1997 it had both MP3 and the functionality of video-recording to the hard disk.

Through the company W-Lan AB many of the then current trains of thought were realised, and complete systems containing a "backbone" consisting of content servers, ATM exchanges, switches and routers and an LTS system (ground-transmitted satellite) for "broadband" combined with local wireless networks (now also called W-Lan), in order to achieve a good bandwidth and the possibility of two-way communication. Furthermore, there was also a receiver unit ("end-point product") which could be placed in the living room.

During 2000 the decision was taken to separate the end-customer product (end-point product) from the complete backbone system. This was because the markets for the various products were completely different. On May 9th 2000 Wellton Way AB started up.

Ever since Wellton Way AB was founded, the company has focused on constructing, developing and marketing user interface solutions for suppliers and partners in areas such as telecom and broadband technology. The user interface is constructed in accordance with a method facilitating complete adaptation and user-friendliness.

The key concept of usability and performance for use in the living-room environment is a central tenet at Wellton Way AB. Taken as a whole, this turns the user interface into a unique platform for web and multimedia use in the living room.

Despite the fact that Wellton Way AB mainly has been a development company from 2000 through 2004, the company received the 2004 Deloitte award for Swedens second fastest growing technology enterprise. Commencing early spring 2005, Wellton Way will launch the Wellton Way MultiMedia Center globally
